Who is Ron Lord?

It's a long story of course and to get the full answer you should visit our family tree site which is maintained by son Richard.

The Lord family have been in Yorkshire since the 1870's but our roots are in North Devon, particularly around Lynton.

If your name is Lord, a trip to our family tree site might be interesting - we might be related! We are still searching for the descendants of Samuel Lord who was Under Manager at Sharlston pit from the 1870's to about 1900. We believe some of them are still local to Wakefield but all efforts to trace them have failed. Please help.

I was born in 1941 at Streethouse, a small mining village near Featherstone in West Yorkshire (although it was called The West Riding in those days).

My education was at Sharlston CP School and then at Normanton Grammar School between the years of 1953 and 1958, and surprisingly I cannot find a web site for The Old Frestonians Association which was set up for the old boys of the school.

My career was in Local Government Finance and in 1992 I took early retirement. I worked for the following authorities:

Wakefield

Ludlow

Colwyn Bay

Braughing (Bishop's Stortford) and

Back to Wakefield for the final 21 years!

I have a list of names I can remember and who I would be delighted to hear from - visit my "Old Chums" page.

I have been married to a wonderful girl called Carol since 1964 and we have two sons, Richard and Philip, and a grandson called Adam Peter Lord who was born on 28th December 2001 and already has his own web site!

After nearly 30 years in Walton we have moved to a bungalow in nearby Ryhill

Never ask a man if he is from Yorkshire.

If he is, he will tell you.

If he does not, why embarrass him?
